daniël ploeger is a dutch musician, performer and multimedia artist.
he works as a free-lance artist in europe and elsewhere.
he presented his work in etazhi gallery in st. petersburg, para/site in hong kong
and galerie tolksdorf berlin, among many other places.
he is also active as a trombonist with the kammerensemble neue musik berlin (knm).

daniël ploeger's performance installations are characterized by the use of moving sounding objects,
manipulated loudspeakers and (left overs of) commodity goods.

daniël studied music at the royal conservatoire of the hague,
and the 'herbert von karajan' orchestra academy of the berlin philharmonic.
he also took lessons in electronic composition, contemporary dance
and performance art in the netherlands, germany, and england.
he is currently doing practice based doctoral research in the field of multimedia installation
and performance art in the "centre for research in opera and music theatre“ at
the university of sussex. recently, he was awarded a grant by the
"european cooperation in the field of scientific and technical research“
to do research in the laboratory of acoustics and audio signal processing
at the helsinki university of technology.

from 2008, daniël ploeger is associate tutor for experimental music theatre and coordinator for
the peer assisted learning programme (pal) at the university of sussex.
from 2005 until 2007, daniël worked as a teacher and performer for a
music education project of the barenboim-said foundation in palestine.
in addition, he gave masterclasses and lectures on contemporary music and multimedia art
at the manhattan school of music, the university of western australia
and the royal conservatoire of the hague, among others.

between 2003 and 2007, he was awarded scholarships by
the nuffic awards programme for talented students,
the prince bernhard culture foundation, the dutch fund for the performing arts (nfpk),
and the orchestra academy of the berlin philharmonic.

once he won the sixth prize in a competition.
